||Action Corner|| Real Steel

Welcome back to Action Corner!!!  This time, I will be showing you a giant robot movie that has nothing to do with Hasbro……Real Steel!!!  This film stars Hugh Jackman and is directed by Shawn Levy.  It will be the third film produced by the recently re-purchased DreamWorks Pictures, following I Am Number Four (released back in February 2011) and the remake of Fright Night (due out August 2011).  Touchstone Pictures will distribute the film as per their 30-picture deal with DreamWorks and Steven Spielberg.

The teaser trailer for this movie was released back in February and was the attached trailer on I Am Number Four.  Honestly, the first time I saw this trailer I didn’t know what to think of it.  Obviously, most people think of Rock’Em Sock’Em Robots: The Movie……and then proceed to laugh at the premise of the film, even though they have no idea what the premise is.  All we knew for sure was that the art of “boxing” has moved from two men, to two man-built robots controlled by men.

Then this past Friday, the new full trailer was released.

OKAY!!!  Now we have things to go on.  Hugh Jackman plays a character named Charlie Kenton, and he was once the #2 boxer in the world.  He falls on hard times and just can’t seem to win a fight with the fighting robots.  He befriends a little kid and the two of them find a training robot in the junk yard that they rebuild.  Kenton trains the robot to fight like a human???  At least that’s what I think.

The effects from the first trailer to the second seem to have been cleaned up and the addition of some plot really helps sell this film.  After seeing this trailer, I am looking forward to Real Steel hitting theaters and IMAX this October!!!
