||Action Corner|| Conan the Barbarian

Welcome back to ACTION CORNER!!!  This time around I will be tackling a movie that is a remake of an 80’s film that is based off of a character that is 79 years old and just makes me want to pick up something heavy and kick the shit out of everything!!!  Conan the Barbarian is an action fantasy film based off the character Conan the Barbarian created by Robert E. Howard.  It is a new interpretation of the mythology, and is not related to the two films from Universal Pictures, 1982’s Conan the Barbarian and 1984’s Conan the Destroyer, that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.  The film stars Jason Momoa as Conan, Rachel Nichols as Tamara, Steven Lang as Khalar Zym, Rose McGowan as Marique, Bob Sapp as Ukafa, Steven O’Donnell as Lucius, and Ron Perlman as Corin.  Conan the Barbarian is produced by Millennium Films, Nu Image, and Paradox Entertainment and is being distributed by Lionsgate.

Hell yeah!!!  Now that is what I’m talking about!!!  I am so excited for this movie that my hands can’t stay still.  I’m going to be honest here, the 80’s Conan movies are BAD!!!  I’m not one of those people that is going to tell you that just because it stars the Governater and it’s from the 80’s, that doesn’t mean it’s a treasure.  Conan the Barbarian was bad…Conan the Destroyer was piss poor awful.  From my favorite producers over at Millennium Entertainment, who will not let any true action hero disappear, and my favorite independent studio Lionsgate, this movie just looks like the perfect way to end the summer.  The action looks like it plays out really well and clean, some shaky cam but that isn’t always a bad thing.  Having seen the star Jason Momoa from HBO‘s Game of Thrones, I already know he’s more than capable of filling the role of the title character.  Ron Perlman is always one of my favorite go-to guys for crazy action fun.  And as a personal treat, I’m really looking forward to seeing Rachel Nichols (after all, she was my favorite Orion from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment‘s Star Trek and Scarlett from Paramount Pictures, Spyglass Entertainment, and Hasbro‘s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra).  Being shot and released in 3D is the icing on the cake to this already fun bloody thrill ride of a movie!!!

Conan the Barbarian hits theaters on August 19, 2011 in 2D and Real D Digital 3D!!!
