||Action Corner|| Immortals / Blitz / The Eagle Path

Welcome back to ACTION CORNER!!!  This time around, I’m going to be tackling a movie about a Greek demigod that doesn’t have a tv show or a Disney Animation movie about him, a movie based on a novel by Ken Bruen, and a movie written, produced, edited, and directed all by the same person.  Let’s get to it!!!

Immortals (trailer #2)

Andrew Craig of The Fandom Menace cannot wait for this movie and I gotta say, after seeing the first trailer, I’m right on board with him.  There’s a reason why so many movies about Greek mythology get made, and that’s because those stories are timeless, and even better for us, this movie is about a story we have never seen on the big screen.  We’ve seen Heracles…we’ve seen Perseus…now we get to see Theseus!!!  This will be director Tarsem Singh third feature film after his first film The Cell, while still good, was extremely bastardized by the studio (I’m lookin’ at you New Line!!!).  Because of his just terrible experience working with a major film studio, he decided to produce and distribute his second film, The Fall, largely on his own funding.  This film received a VERY LIMITED release in 2008 and quickly found it’s way to DVD.  But do not let this fool you…The Fall is one of the best films I’ve ever seen and I have Craig to thank for showing it to me.  Now Tarsem is back and kicking ass with the Greeks, and it looks like he’s found a studio that is willing to work WITH HIM opposed to changing everything because not only is Relativity handling production, marketing, and distribution of Immortals, the studio is also handling Tarsem’s next film The Untitled Snow White Project.  And just trust me when I tell you that there is really no one better to handle 3D.  The man is such a visual director that I’m really interested to see how he’s going to play with the technology.  If you can’t tell…I can’t wait for this movie.

Immortals hits theaters on November 11, 2011 in 2D and Real D Digital 3D!!!

BLITZ

Blitz is a 2011 action thriller film and is based off the novel of the same name by Ken Bruen.

The film stars Jason Statham as Detective Tom Brant, Paddy Considine as Porter Nash, Aidan Gillen as Barry Weiss, Zawe Ashton as WPC Elizabeth Falls, and David Morrissey as Harold Dunlop.

The music is being written and composed by Ilan Eshkeri.

The film is being written by Nathan Parker.

The film is being directed by Elliott Lester.

Blitz is being produced by Lionsgate, Davis Films, Current Entertainment, and Kushner/Wyman Productions, and is being distributed by Millennium Entertainment.

Blitz (trailer #1)

Another action film to add to the library of Jason Statham!!!  This man just never disappoints me.  This film went completely over the American public’s head, seeing as how it never received a theatrical release.  I know what Statham is bringing to the table, so what I really want to see is the villain.  We’ve seen Aiden Gillen before in films like Touchstone‘s Shanghai Knights (where he played the villain) and HBO‘s Game of Thrones, but this is the first time he gets to play a truly insane person, at least that is what it looks like from the trailer.  I hope this film isn’t too long though.  Most movies like this tend to play out a little too long and I get rather bored.  I’m hoping that isn’t the case with this one.

Blitz gets released straight-to-DVD on August 23, 2011 in 2D!!!

THE EAGLE PATH

The Eagle Path is a 2010 action drama film about a military veteran and former mercenary named Frenchy.  He is haunted by his childhood, as well as his past in the military. Now living in Eastern Asia, he is hiding, working as a taxi driver. He soon picks up a beautiful female passenger that will change him forever, with a dark look back into memories of his childhood past. He has become determined to better her life, and without her knowing, takes her on the most dangerous ride of her life.

The film stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as Frenchy, Claudia Bassols as Sophia, John Colton as Luther Banks, Josef Cannon as Bobby Jackson, Chuck DiMaria as Vinnie Scantino, Adam Karst as Soli, Cal Giardina as Cal, Kristopher Van Varenberg as Oren, and Bianca Van Varenberg as Bianca Banks.

The film is being written, produced, and directed by Jean-Claude Van Damme.

The Eagle Path is being produced by Rodin Entertainment, Foresight Unlimited, and Full Love Productions, and is distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The Eagle Path (trailer #1)

Alright now, I’ve been waiting for this movie to get a release for 2 years now!!!  Van Damme made the film right after making JCVD and before making Universal Soldier: Regeneration.  I really want this movie to be good.  The last film Van Damme wrote, produced, and directed all on his own was the awful film, The Quest.  Just for clarification, I am one of the biggest Van Damme fans on the planet (my friends can testify to that) and even I can’t watch The Quest.  It just hurts so much watching that movie.  But from the looks of this, Van Damme has redeemed himself!!!  The raw and gritty feel of the entire trailer alone keeps me on the edge of my seat.  And Van Damme looks to be kicking all kinds of ass just like he did back in the day.  Like with most of his other recent films, Van Damme’s kids, Kristopher and Bianca have roles in the film.  Kris has already proven himself to be a capable martial arts star and Bianca is well…HOT!!!  If Van Damme can keep making movies like this, then I will have the biggest smile on my face!!!  I just have to keep hoping that he’s going to accept a role for The Expendables 2.

The Eagle Path gets a straight-to-DVD release on October 4, 2011 in 2D!!!
