||Action Corner|| The Adventures of Tintin / The Hunger Games / Underworld: Awakening

Welcome back to ACTION CORNER!!!  This time, I will be tackling the team up of Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, the birth of a possible new science fiction trilogy, and a franchise seeing the original star returning.  LETS DO IT!!!

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN (international trailer)

Let’s be honest here…Spielberg hasn’t given us a good movie since 2005 when Munich came out, so to hear he is directing another movie makes me both excited and nervous.  Remember people, the last movie he gave us was that awful train wreck of a film otherwise known as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, so he has a lot of apologizing to do.  With The Adventures of Tintin though, it looks as though he is doing just that.  In teaming up with Peter Jackson to bring this story to the big screen, Spielberg looks to be doing what Robert Zemeckis has been doing for a while now, only doing it RIGHT!!!  You can make a good motion capture movie.  I know it can be done, and Steven Spielberg is just the guy to do that.  With awesome writers Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright, and Joe Cornish, and the legendary composer John Williams, The Adventures of Tintin looks like it may be on its way to becoming the 3D adventure we’ve all been waiting for.

The Adventures of Tintin hits theaters on December 23, 2011 in 2D, Real D Digital 3D, and IMAX 3D!!!

The music is being written and composed by Academy Award Nominated Composer Danny Elfman and Academy Award Winner for Best Original Song T-Bone Burnett.

THE HUNGER GAMES (teaser trailer)

Upfront, I have no idea what this is about.  But has it peaked my interest?  Yes it has.  I’ve never read any of the books, but even with this teaser trailer the movie looks interesting.  And with the cast this movie has, I’m hoping for a lot.  I’ve heard the books are wildly successful, and that people have been demanding a film adaptation, but this is the first time I’ve heard of it.  I’ll update on more when more information comes in, but for now, this looks cool and I’m definitely on board for it.

The Hunger Games hits theaters on March 23, 2012 in 2D!!!

Underworld: Awakening is a 2012 action horror film and is the fourth film in the Underworld Film Series following 2003’s Underworld, 2006’s Underworld: Evolution, and 2009’s Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, but is the third film chronologically as Underworld: Rise of the Lycans was a prequel film.

The film stars Kate Beckinsale as Selene, Michael Ealy as Detective Sebastian, India Eisley as Eve, Kris Holden-Ried as Quint, Theo James as David, and Academy Award Nominee Stephen Rea as Dr. Jacob Lane.

The film is being written by J. Michael Straczynski, John Hlavin and Allison Burnett.

The film is being directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein.

Underworld: Awakening is being produced by Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment, and is being distributed by Screen Gems.

UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING (teaser trailer)

Eh, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t really care for the Underworld movies.  Too many things are off in the series for me, and truly the only things I enjoyed about the films are not in this movie, and they would be Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy.  I know there is an audience for this franchise, but I’ve never been one of them, even with my love of vampires and werewolves.  The fact that Michael Sheen is not in this film is an utter disappoint to me.  He’s such a wonderful actor to watch on screen, and his absence will be missed by me.  Since the filmmakers realized that there is nothing new for this movie to bring to the table, they decided to add the element of 3D into the mix.  Now from the looks of the trailer, it at least looks like they shot it in 3D and completely had fun with the dimension the whole time.  I hope the action plays out better than the first two films (the prequel really didn’t bother me).  Good luck Beckinsale and welcome home (especially since your ex-husband is no where in sight)!!!

Underworld: Awakening hits theaters on January 20, 2012 in 2D and Real D Digital 3D!!!

  1. I’ve read all the books now, so I feel that I can make a proper assessment. This movie looks goddamn awesome. I like the casting decisions, I just hope they don’t change any of them for the other two movies (if they’re going to make them.

    I can’t fucking wait.
